Married Adeline Green Jones February 1849. Nancy Jane Green was the bridesmaid.
Went to California during the Gold Rush then traveled to New York by ship.
Samuel and Adeline had a son, Charles, in August 1853.
After Adeline died Samuel married Nancy Jane Green, June 2, 1860.
Moved his family to Missouri before the 1870 Census.
1870 Census Samuel listed his birthplace as New Jersey.
April 26, 1875 left Missouri to join a wagon train heading to Arizona.
August 23, 1875 arrives on Beaver Creek at the Wales Arnold Ranch Arizona
After 1876 the family changed their name from Dickerson to Dickinson.
August 20, 1885 Samuel received land patent #507 in the Lower Oak Creek area near Cornville. 30-acre farm; hay, grain, vineyard.
1877 Samuel and 5 other men started digging the O.K. Ditch.
April 2, 1887 – July 13, 1905 Samuel C Dickinson became postmaster and stage stop operator Cornville, Arizona.
Post Master Samuel Cotton Dickinson submitted forms to Washington which came back naming the town of Cornville, AZ.
