Old Town Cottonwood
Main Street Cottonwood, AZ


Dickinson Store and Post Office
North of 1045 N Main Cottonwood near the jail.
The building was torn down in 1960 according to the local historian Glenda Farley.
The Strahan family sold the property and store to the Samuel Cotton Dickinson family. Edward V. Dickinson took over the Cottonwood Post Office as postmaster on January 18, 1904, and was followed by Frank Dickinson on August 4, 1905. The Dickinson family sold the property and store to Alonzo "Lon" Mason. 


Movie Theatre
914 N Main St now The Tavern Grill
Helen's sister, Alta Mae Dickinson, sold tickets and her cousin took tickets at the movie theater.


Boarding House
913 N Main Street
Frank and Hulda Dickinson’s family lived across the street from the movie theater.
Hulda ran the upstairs boarding house.  Alta May sold tickets at the movie theatre and her boyfriend ran the projector.

Vaudrey Samuel Dickinson was born at Fort Verde October 4, 1900.

Montezuma Well National Monument
5525 E Beaver Creek Rd, Rimrock, AZ

In 1888, William Back and his wife Marjorie Ann Dickinson Back traded two horsed for the ranch.
They had seven children. Mildred (Fain) was the oldest, then came Fred, Bertha, Harry, twins Jessie and Jennie, and William.  When Bill traded for the Well property, neighbors thought he got a bad deal because the land was wild, covered with cat's-claw and mesquite.

V Bar V Ranch

Once owned by Frank and William Dickinson.
This is now open to the public with a visitor center, restroom and bookstore operated by the Forest Service.
The Crane Petroglyph Heritage Site and the Arizona Natural History Association are located on site.

Fallen Lawmen marker Jerome

This plaque is located outside the Jerome Police Department.  
Two of the 4 lawmen listed have ties to the Dickinson family.
James Hawkins married Mariah May Dickinson, sister of Frank Lee.
The murderer of James Lowry was killed by Frank Lee Dickinson.
