Helen received a teaching degree from Tempe Normal School, now known as Arizona State University. She met her husband Roland while working at Pearl Harbor as a secretary during WWII and they married in 1946. Her first child, Richard L. Moxcey, was born in Hawaii. They later moved to Superior, Arizona where their daughter Diana was born. They lived 10 years in Superior, and then moved to Apache Junction, Arizona where she spent many years teaching elementary school. She retired in 1982 and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren. Helen was survived by a daughter Diana Rowe, two grandsons, Christopher Moxcey and Michael Moxcey, granddaughter Jessica Peterson, three great grandchildren, Richard, Shelby, and Camille, a sister Mattie Brashears, and a niece Holly Lynn (Spooner) Martinson.
When Helen was born her mother, Hulda, allowed Helen’s older sister, Alta Mae, to choose Helen’s Middle Name. Alta Mae decided that Ardell would be Helen’s middle name. Later on, Helen decided to use “May” as her Middle Name.
